I’d like to share with you the power of embracing change and the role it plays in personal growth. As a high-performing individual myself, growth is not just a priority—it’s one of my core values. Sometimes, to grow, we need to close old doors to open new ones, and sometimes we close them voluntarily while other times, they’re closed for us.
The Transformation of Letting Go
I’ve always been both goal and growth-oriented. After college, my goal was to make a higher-than-average income, take a couple of vacations each year, and buy a home. Now, after having accomplished all of these goals, I have bigger ones. As a strategic entrepreneur, I’ve earned more money and learned more, at this point of my life, than I’d have ever expected. I always thought money would be enough, but as I’ve learned about myself, I’ve learned that actually, it was freedom I’ve been after and have decided to take the steps to align my life more closely with one that will allow me to do what I want, when I want.
This shift has been anything but easy. During the pandemic, for the first time, I attempted something that quite frankly, I wasn’t good at and would have to learn, and started writing a memoir. While writing my book, for the first time, I reflected on my life, its challenges, and successes, and what I’ve learned about myself. I learned that I’ve been able to accomplish anything I’ve set my mind to, and was ready to take the next leap and build a life that made me happier. And to do so, I’d have to let go of the life I had.
Self-Improvement Through Embracing Change
Through writing and deep self-exploration, I discovered not just strengths and skills, but that I had deeply-rooted values that I hadn’t appreciated before. I realized that I’d been underestimating my capabilities and was not living as abundantly as I could. This revelation was not about financial gain, but about understanding and loving who I am, recognizing my unique journey through significant adversity, and learning that my pain could eventually become my purpose.
Calculated Risks and Embracing Challenges
My journey has taught me the importance of taking calculated risks. It’s these moments of decision, where we step into the unknown, that true transformation happens. Whether it’s deciding to start a new business venture, ending a longstanding personal or professional relationship, or reevaluating life choices that no longer serve us, each risk brings us closer to the life we aspire to live. This path hasn’t been just about achieving more; it’s been about becoming more—more of who I am meant to be, and more aligned with my true self. I think about it this way: looking back, how many times have changes ended up being for the worse? For me, I can’t really think of any…
